Area 2.3

In this unit, the students will investigate the concept of area. The students will trace around some footprints, and create shapes on the geoboard and investigate their area. The students will use squared paper to help them calculate the area of both the footprints and the shapes. They will begin to appreciate the need for a more accurate way of calculating area. The students will record their measurements using the appropriate notation.
