From a Frog to a Tadpole

In this unit, the students will investigate frogs. They will sort pictures of different types of animals according to their characteristics. The students will then discuss a frog and be introduced to the term amphibian. They will discuss the anatomy of a frog and will label a diagram identifying the different parts. The students will then investigate the life cycle of a frog. They will observe and discuss frogspawn and what it looks like. They will record the changes to the frogspawn each week in the form of a time line. The students will then create a test to prove that frogs eat live insects. They will also investigate the types of insects that frogs prefer to eat. Finally the students will design and make a flow chart, using some form of technology, which describes the life cycle of a frog.
