Hopper's Easter Surprise

This mini unit is based on the text, “Hopper’s Easter Surprise” by Kathrin Siegenthaler and Marcus Pfister. In the unit the students will complete reading tasks such as identifying descriptive words in the text, using a description to label a diagram of an Arctic Hare, creating descriptive sentences using adjectives and reconstructing and following a procedure to make an Easter egg basket. The students will explore the structure of descriptions and procedures. They will contribute to the joint construction of these texts and will also write their own description of the Easter Bunny and a procedure describing how they made their Easter Egg. In the talking and listening component of the unit the students will describe their experiences of Easter Sunday and will play two Barrier Games creating a picture of an Easter egg and an Easter egg hunt.
